The calculator works in your browser and keeps nothing. The worked examples on this page use invented figures; a real offer comes from a funding partner and can include costs this arithmetic leaves out.
Machine Loan Payment Calculator and the Machine Shop Figures Behind a New Mill
A machine loan payment calculator answers one question: what a given amount costs each month at a given rate and term. A machine shop adding a new mill, with supplier setup quoted separately and fixed electrical work excluded, can test the figure before asking for an offer.
| Calculator field | Value |
|---|---|
| Amount | $57,800 |
| Rate (annual %) | 9.9% |
| Term (months) | 60 |
| Estimated monthly payment | $1,225.24 |
| Total interest | $15,714.40 |
| Total repaid | $73,514.40 |
How the figures are built: the calculator divides the annual rate by 12 and spreads the amount across the term in level payments, each one covering that month’s interest and part of the principal. Total repaid is the payment times the number of months; total interest is total repaid minus the amount.
Machine shops sit in fabricated metal product manufacturing, NAICS 332, a code with 19 employer establishments in Schenectady County, NY in 2023 (County Business Patterns). For a small shop, new equipment is a multi-year commitment, and the term entered here should match how long the new mill will earn its keep.
The calculator here has no down-payment field. For a price with money down, enter the price minus the down payment as the amount, or use the equipment calculator on the equipment financing page, which takes the down payment as its own input.
Worked Example: Equipment Loan Finance Calculator for a Restaurant Buying Patio Furniture and Heaters
Patio tables, chairs, umbrellas and heaters are movable equipment. Pouring a slab or setting posts for the patio is property work, and this site leaves it out. For the furniture and heaters, the arithmetic is the same: enter the amount, the rate and the term.
| Calculator field | Value |
|---|---|
| Amount | $31,250 |
| Rate (annual %) | 11.4% |
| Term (months) | 36 |
| Estimated monthly payment | $1,029.01 |
| Total interest | $5,794.36 |
| Total repaid | $37,044.36 |
At $1,029.01 a month, the restaurant can set the payment against the extra covers the new outdoor seating is meant to add. The calculator counts interest only. Delivery, setup and any costs an offer lists on top of interest are not in these figures, so add them before deciding.
Worked Example: Equipment Loan Finance Calculator for a Restaurant Planning a Second Location
A second location is a larger amount over a longer term. A longer term lowers the monthly payment and raises the total interest; running the same amount at two terms shows the tradeoff.
| Calculator field | Value |
|---|---|
| Amount | $96,500 |
| Rate (annual %) | 10.1% |
| Term (months) | 84 |
| Estimated monthly payment | $1,607.00 |
| Total interest | $38,488.00 |
| Total repaid | $134,988.00 |
Over 84 months the restaurant would pay $38,488.00 in interest on these invented figures. Run the same $96,500 at 10.1% over 60 months instead and the payment rises to $2,055.09, while total interest falls to $26,805.40. Trimming the term pushes the monthly figure up and brings the interest total down.
Worked Example: Equipment Loan Finance Calculator for a Restaurant Planning a Kitchen Equipment Repair
A kitchen equipment repair is a smaller, urgent cost. A restaurant can compare a short loan against drawing on a line of credit, where interest runs only while the balance is open.
| Calculator field | Value |
|---|---|
| Amount | $19,900 |
| Rate (annual %) | 12.2% |
| Term (months) | 24 |
| Estimated monthly payment | $938.62 |
| Total interest | $2,626.88 |
| Total repaid | $22,526.88 |
Kitchens weighing a line instead can read the business line of credit page; this calculator does not model draws and paydowns.
Practices use the same arithmetic. A dental or medical practice can enter the price of a chair, an imaging unit or an exam-room package as the amount, then try two or three terms to see where the payment sits against monthly collections before calling. With a payment that looks workable, the funding request form passes the amount to funding partners for review.
